season 2020-2021 Auditions

Ballet Chesapeake offers a pre-professional division for dance students who hope to take their training into the professional dance world or a college dance program after high school. The company offers numerous performance opportunities as well as the chance for students to work with professional dancers and choreographers to build their experience and growth as a dancer. Past professionals have included dancers or choreographers from New York City Ballet, Washington Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and Pennsylvania Ballet.

The audition for the 2020-2021 season will be held on Sunday, May 4 and is open to anyone with intermediate to advanced ballet experience ages 11 and up who are currently registered at either the Dance Conservatory of Maryland or another local dance school. Registration will begin at 1:30pm, and the audition class will be held from 2:00 - 4:00p. We strongly suggest arriving early to stretch and warm up. Dancers should wear a black leotard, pink footed tights, pink ballet slippers, and hair in a neat bun. Students with at least one year of experience in pointe shoes should take the class en pointe.

As part of the audition process, we will be holding a 30 minute information session after the audition class. This meeting will explain what kind of commitment is required to participate in BC, and also what benefits and opportunities are offered to company members. We will go over company policies and give an overview of next season including a tentative performance schedule. We will also be able to answer any questions that parents or dancers might have about what it's like to be a company member.

We are looking forward to working with our new and returning dancers in the company next year, and hope to see everyone at the audition. Should you have any questions, you are welcome to contact our office or visit our website at
