Pre-Professional Dance Program (Ages 12-18)

The Pre-Professional Program continues to build upon the student’s technique and physical strength. It focuses on advancing and perfecting technique, developing artistry, and preparing students for a future in dance, either collegiate or professional. Pointe work is introduced and developed in Levels 4-7 as well.

BC Launch Program

Ballet Chesapeake is dedicated to helping passionate dancers take the next step in their journey—whether that means pursuing dance at the collegiate level or auditioning for professional companies. Through personalized mentorship, rigorous technical training, and expert guidance on auditions and applications, our faculty supports each student in reaching their full potential.

From mastering pre-professional choreography to building standout portfolios and reels, we prepare dancers not just to get noticed but to thrive in competitive programs and companies around the country.

Dancers have the opportunity to participate in resume-writing workshops, choreography workshops, audition photoshoots and more.

National Honors Society for Dance Arts

Ballet Chesapeake proudly hosts a chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA), offering program dancers the opportunity to work toward induction into this prestigious organization. Through dedication, leadership, and artistic excellence, students can earn recognition that celebrates both their academic and dance achievements.

Leadership and development opportunities within their NHSDA Chapter, as they can assist the Chapter Sponsor with Chapter administration, record keeping, fundraising, and event planning.

Uniforms

DCM is committed to ensuring that all students have uniform options that honor their unique selves and enable them to feel confident and comfortable while dancing. Students are encouraged to select the options below that best align with their gender identity.

Skirts and warm-ups may be worn at the instructor's discretion for Ballet levels 3 and up. Ballet warmup attire is limited to ballet sweaters, shrugs, and leg warmers. No Sweats or baggy clothing. No T-shirts.

Long hair must be secured in a bun at ALL times. Dancers may have natural hairstyles such as twists, braids, and cornrows into the ballet bun. If hair is short, a headband or hairspray/gel will be necessary to hold the hair back away from the face and neck. For safety, no hair beads or jewelry beyond stud earrings are allowed for ballet classes.
