Ballet Chesapeake Uniforms

The Conservatory is dedicated to providing all students with ballet attire options that honor their unique identities, allowing them to feel confident and comfortable while dancing. Students are encouraged to select dance uniforms from the options below that most closely align with their gender identity.

For Ballet levels 1 and up, instructors may allow skirts and warm-ups, which should coordinate with the class color leotard. Acceptable ballet warm-up attire includes ballet sweaters, shrugs, and leg warmers; however, sweats and baggy clothing, as well as T-shirts, are not permitted under the ballet dress code.

All dancers must secure long hair in a bun at ALL times. Natural hairstyles such as twists, braids, and cornrows can be styled into the ballet bun. For those with short hair, a headband or hairspray/gel is necessary to keep hair away from the face and neck. For safety reasons, the ballet dress code dictates that no hair beads or jewelry beyond stud earrings are allowed in ballet classes.

Click HERE for a tutorial on creating a proper ballet bun.

Tights and slippers should be chosen to match the dancer's skin tone; fair-skinned dancers are required to wear pink tights and slippers.
